Disrepair may force Finland to stop power purchases from Russia
HELSINKI, Feb 2 (PRIME) -- The power lines between Russia and Finland need serious repair, but no information about such plans is provided by Russia forcing Finland to consider termination of the supplies, representative of power grid operator Fingrid Jussi Jyrinsalo told PRIME on Tuesday.
“Four lines now transmit electric power from Russia to Finland. Three of them are very old and need repair. We have several times asked our Russian partners about the possible details, including whether the repair is planned, when and how long it can take, but received no answer,” he said.
“That is why we do not know whether we can receive electric power in the future, and we are considering various scenarios of development of Finland’s power industry, of which some exclude power supplies from Russia.”
